🥂
Champagne Welcome
Pre-ceremony or start of cocktail hour. Typically pre-poured on trays for arrival.
4 oz pour per guest
🍾
Champagne Toast
Reception toast moment. Quick pour — guests hold briefly and sip.
2 oz pour per guest

Pro tip — Ask on your RSVP: Add a simple drink preference question when guests RSVP — "Are you a wine drinker, beer/spirits drinker, or non-drinker?" Even a basic response helps your bartending team right-size your champagne and bar order. You'd be surprised how many guests at a 120-person wedding don't drink at all — knowing this in advance prevents wasted product and awkward moments during the toast.

Your Champagne Order

Pre-pour tip: For a champagne welcome, have your bartending team pre-pour glasses on trays before guests arrive. Aim to have the first tray ready 10 minutes before doors open. For the toast, pour just before the toastmaster signals — champagne goes flat quickly once poured.

Non-drinking guests: Consider having a non-alcoholic champagne option on hand — Josh Cellars makes a beautiful alcohol-free sparkling option that toasts and photographs just like the real thing. For guests who don't drink, sparkling water (LaCroix citrus, for example) in a champagne flute is a graceful alternative that keeps everyone included in the toast moment.

Champagne is hit or miss. Unlike wine or beer, champagne consumption at weddings is hard to predict — some crowds love it, others barely touch it. Round up to the nearest full bottle but don't over-order. Most retailers do not accept returns on sparkling wine, so buy conservatively and have still wine available as a backup for guests who want something to sip during the welcome or toast.

Note: These quantities assume 90% of adult guests will participate in each champagne occasion — a professional estimate based on real wedding averages. Actual consumption varies. Non-drinkers, designated drivers, and guests who simply decline will reduce your actual pour count. The 10% buffer built into the 90% assumption accounts for light sippers and second pours. Always confirm your final headcount before purchasing.
